Post-it Note Holder Tutorial

Start with some "Sticky Notes" - I used ones from Walmart. They were the most inexpensive. You can get 4 for $2.00 or 12 for $5.00. Staples was double the cost even for the generic ones. They are 3x3 with 100 sheets in each pad.

Cut your cardstock to 3 1/4" x 8 1/2"
Score at these measurements - 2 1/2", 3", 6" and 6 1/2"

Adhere your sticky notes to the cardstock with red sticky tape.
Note - the shorter end is the top and flaps over the larger end.
Edit - one of my readers had a great suggestion - use a good repositionable adhesive to attach the sticky notes to the cardstock, that way people can reuse the holder :)
This is what it will look like when it is closed.
Closures - for this one I used these Basic Grey Magnetic Snaps. Half of them are the positive side and half are the negative, so you get 10 snaps in a package.
If you were interested in making a bunch and needed a more economical approach you could use repositionable adhesive. I have done that before and it's fine. For the top of the sticky note holder I cut a 1 1/2" inch white square and a 1 3/4" colored square (mine is purple). Then I stamp something on the white square to decorate it. The one I made here is a little more decked out than what I would normally do, because I'm usually mass producing them. I then stick the colored square on the holder so that it hangs half way over the edge. Adhere the repositionable adhesive to the bottom portion of the purple square. You should be able to stick it to the bottom half of the holder.
Edit - several people have suggested using velcro as a closure and I think it's a great idea!
If you decide to try the snaps, stick them towards the top of the flap. They do bulk up the closure a little.

Now you can decorate it however you wish :)
Here is my finished holder. I still started out with a 1 3/4" purple square but wound up rounding the corners and adding a border. If you use a repositionable adhesive I would stick it to the back of the purple square along the bottom.
I hope you liked my project and I'll leave you with my "Name" and "Treat" for the blog hop prize -
