May Freedom Ring

Today is the release day for eight new Kitchen Sink stamp sets!!  There is a lot going on in the Kitchen this month including a contest, so be sure to check out the new Contest Blog to find out how you can win free stamps!!

The cards I'm sharing today use the new stamp sets Playful Stars, Plaid Plus! and Ready 4 Any Holiday.  The first card is an atc I made for my swap groups and the second card is just a larger version :)

I also took a few photos while I was making the cards so I will share those too :)

Step 1 - Use the plaid maker image and SU! white Craft ink to make your background.

Step 1

Step 2 - Add the stars with Brilliance "Rocket Red" ink.  This brand of ink works really well with SU! Kraft cardstock.

Step 2

Step 3 - Stamp your stars with Brilliance "Moonlight White" ink and cut.

The large blue star and the medium red star were cut with a craft knife and ruler.  The small stars were punched with a SU! star punch.

For the ATC, I used both the large and small SU! star punches to make them easy to reproduce :)

So Very Thoughtful

This card features two new releases by Flourishes :)  I've also included a picture of how I stamped the background image -

Place the stamp on a cuttlebug plate or large acrylic block and ink

Set your paper on top of the stamp and and then press and rub across the paper evenly using a paper towel.  (I used SU! Craft ink so the back got a little messy from pressing so close to the edges, but no matter because I was adhering it to a piece of cardstock.)

Carefully lift your paper off of the stamp.

edited to add -  I love Sharon Johnson's technique to place a sheet of typewriter paper down and run a brayer over it!

Let the good times roll...

I thought a Flourishes card was in order to celebrate them becoming a member company on SCS :)  This is a new release celebrating Mardi Gras!  I used the baby wipe technique for the  focal image.  It's super easy and always looks cool.  You need reinkers, glossy cardstock, Staz On ink and a couple of baby wipes.  I have a post from a while ago with some pictures you can look at and if you have any questions just let me know :)

PURSuE Your Art Purse Tutorial Part 1

I thought I would share what I've been working on...

Supplies:

PURSuE Your Art Purse with 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 card pocket (I don't have a final picture yet, but you can see more examples of finished purses at the Pursue You Art website.)

Kitchen Sink Stamps - Playful Christmas set

Cosmo Cricket patterned paper from Storytime Collection, Tweedle Dee & Tick Tock (available at AC  Moore)

Sticky Strip, Craft Knife & Mat, Buttons, Ribbon, Colorbox Chalk Ink, SU! Certainly Celery Ink, SU!Whisper White Cardstock

Remove chipboard pieces from purse.

Img_1642_3

Cut paper and prepare to adhere to chipboard.  I chose to use sticky strip because it's strong and easy to work with.  You can also use spray adhesive or a xyron.

Img_1649_3

Adhere paper and trim edges with a craft knife and mat.

Img_1651_2

Repeat this step with the top half of purse.

Stamp your card and mat.

Choose embellishments.  This picture gives you an idea of what I want the purse to look like, but the card actually slides into a pocket.  I also have not adhered the ribbon because I will line the inside of the purse with paper as well.

Next, I need to adhere the striped cardstock to the side pieces of chipboard.  I will post those soon :)

Felt Carolers Technique

Did you see my felt "Carolers" technique in the November Paper Crafts issue?  This project was fun to do because it was a collaborative effort between myself and Associate Creative Editor, Megan Hoeppner.

Details are in the issue so pick up a copy and give it a try!

The issue is also available on-line here.

Image by Rubber Soul, Wordsworth line.

PS - Totally off topic, but I can't wait for the kids Halloween candy to be gone.  I just inhaled three fun-size Snickers bars!
